Creative Laboratory Kobe

We have established a laboratory (wet lab) in Creative Laboratory Kobe, the newest (completed in October 2020) research facility established in Kobe Medical Industry Development Project, one of the largest medical industry clusters in Japan. In this research facility, the Honjo Kobe Research Center for Biomedical Innovation (HBI), a next-generation medical development center of the Kobe Medical Industry Development Organization, is overseen by Dr. Tasuku Honjo, the 2018 Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine. The Honjo Kobe Research Center for Biomedical Innovation (HBI) is also established.

One of the largest Medical industry clusters is located in Kobe, Japan. Kobe also plays a large role in many medical industry development projects.

Launched in 1998 as a Kobe City project, RIKEN, universities and other research institutes, highly specialized hospitals such as Kobe City Medical Center Chuo Municipal Hospital, and medical-related companies and organizations are concentrated on Kobe's Port Island. The project provides an environment and services that strongly support everything from research and development to commercialization through industry-academia-government-medical collaboration, and has led to numerous innovations in the medical field.

Through industry-academia-government-physician collaboration, university laboratories and companies clustered in one region are seamlessly connected to "research," "development," "regulatory affairs," and "sales channel development," making it possible for the Kampo Institute of Medical Science alone to demonstrate the efficacy of drugs, apply for regulatory approval, and develop sales channels in a one-stop manner.

Using two sections on the 2nd floor of Creative Lab Kobe, we are conducting research and development of HGF production inducing factors derived from natural products such as Chinese herbal medicines, as well as various bioactive substances that natural products possess.
